Welcome to Opinions. We are founded on the principle that freedom of expression is fundamental to an open society. We strive to preserve your privacy and minimise unnecessary data collection without compromising our legal obligations.
Data We Collect
We intentionally collect as little personal information as reasonably possible.
As of the Effective Date of this policy, Opinions does not require or collect information such as:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Government-issued identification
- Profile photographs
- Any other direct personal identifiers required solely for publishing content
This approach is intended to reduce the amount of personally identifiable information associated with users of the platform.
Note: Our data collection practices may evolve over time to accommodate legal, operational, or technical requirements. Any material changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy.
IP Address Collection
When content is submitted to Opinions, we may automatically collect the originating IP address.
This information is collected for legitimate operational purposes, including but not limited to:
- Preventing spam, fraud, and abuse;
- Detecting and mitigating criminal or unlawful activity;
- Protecting the integrity and security of the platform; and
- Supporting future recommendation and content-ranking systems.
Opinions does not collect IP addresses for the purpose of selling user data or serving targeted advertising.
We will not voluntarily disclose user information to governmental or third parties except where required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Opinions, its users, or the public.
User Content
Users are solely responsible for the opinions, statements, and content they publish on the platform.
By submitting content, you represent that you have the legal right to publish such material and that your content complies with all applicable laws.
You agree not to use Opinions to publish content that:
- Incites or promotes violence;
- Constitutes unlawful threats or harassment;
- Promotes terrorism or criminal activity;
- Contains unlawful hate speech directed at protected groups;
- Violates intellectual property rights;
- Is otherwise prohibited under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms shall be interpreted as limiting lawful criticism, debate, satire, political expression, or other forms of protected speech.
Platform Neutrality
Opinions is a neutral publishing platform.
The views, opinions, beliefs, and statements expressed by users belong solely to the respective authors and do not represent the views, endorsements, or positions of Opinions or its founders, operators, employees, or contributors.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the founders and operators of Opinions shall not be held responsible or liable for user-generated content solely by virtue of providing the platform through which such content is published.
User Responsibilities
You agree to use the platform responsibly and in good faith.
While we strongly support freedom of expression, users are expected to exercise that freedom lawfully and responsibly, respecting the rights and safety of others.
Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use at any time to reflect changes in our services, legal obligations, or operational requirements. Continued use of the platform following such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Content Permanence
Opinions is built on the principle that published content should remain a permanent part of the public record. Accordingly, once an opinion has been published, it is intended to be immutable and will not ordinarily be edited, deleted, or removed by the platform, its operators, or the original author.
Removal of content shall occur only under exceptional circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Permanent loss of data resulting from catastrophic hardware failure, corruption, or other unforeseen technical events beyond the reasonable control of the platform; or
- Circumstances where continued publication would be unlawful under applicable law.
Except as expressly provided above, Opinions does not maintain a discretionary content-removal policy.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts within India, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Users acknowledge that Opinions will comply with valid and binding legal orders issued by courts or authorities having jurisdiction under Indian law.
